Hello everyone, At our gig last night, we were informed by our beloved Restaurant Manager, Siew Siew that as of 12 September 2006, La Bodega would cease sizzlin' and there'll be no more 'horas las locas'. Instead, 31, Tengkat Tong Shin will shed its spanish doppelganger for one closer to its original 'tong shin' roots - a stimbot restoran. Sitting towards the back of the room, seeing the fabulous lights illuminating the singer songwriters we regularaly see performing only at our regular cafes and pubs, I feel awe. I love the scene in KL. Man! If only you were there! A roundup? It's a Saturday afternoon (15 Apr) when Jerome, Saerze, Jasemaine Gan, Nikki & Jaz rock up to the corner house at Seputeh. We met earlier at Restoran Berjaya (Bangsar - best nasi padang!!!) to chat about what we were to share with the kids. Home of Peace is a home which cares for 12 orphan girls. And this is the home for which the two Intl Womens Day gigs at Bodega and NBT raised monies - on the shopping list were a RM230 classical guitar, some simple percussions, a tambourine, pitch pipe, guitar stand, chord books and song books - and so we spent about RM365 this first visit. There's about RM70 left in the kitty for our next visit. So we figured a visit to jam with Justine Morais (head of de house) and her galz every month with a different group of singer songwriters - doesn't sound so bad eh. WAYANG KATA: In collaboration with The British Council, we're so pleased to present an evening of poetry and short stories featuring Francesca Beard - a renowned performance poet from the UK. We'll also be presenting a host of local poets/storytellers: Bernice Chauly, Rahmat Haron, Sharanya Manivannan, Ruhayat X, Fahmi Fadzil, Jasmine Low, Pang Khee Teik and Jerome Kugan.
