Three years of performances to a packed house saw a host of UK poets grace the Wayang Kata stage in Kuala Lumpur - Francesca Beard, Jacob Sam-La Rose, Malika Booker, Kim Trusty and Polarbear - alongside a constellation of rising Malaysian poetry stars. It was around 2000, that independent music entrepreneur and promoter  Jasmine Low  of  Go International Group and founder of Doppel Music World first started attending gigs at the Excelsior in Sydney. She became a regular and after relocating back to Kuala Lumpur in 2003, started off her own series of gigs called ‘Valhalla Open Mic’ and ‘Doppelganger Open Mic’ - she says, inspired by  Melanie   Horsnell . Jasmine and  Melanie  kept in touch and in October 2013,  Melanie  would play her first Malaysian Tour. This tour will kick start the 6th Independent Youth Festival, a.k.a. FEYST. So when Doppelganger Open Mic founder received a call from BFM 89.9's Ali Johan, inviting her on That Music Show, she went home that very night to shortlist her 4 songs to share on air. DAY 1 REPORT: Ooooooo thanks to you guys who came by to Doppelganger @ Youth09 on Saturday. What a day! The best of the lot? Well, all acts were super and aside from Bo Bedroom Sanctuary's last minute cancellation due to illness, the stellar acts that were crowd favourites were the oversears - San Jose-based Az Samad , melbourne-based kevin brokenscar , another melbourne-based band scene at the movies , new band car crash hearts , the boys from the sound rhythm beatboxers .
