George Town, 22 December 2013 - Global Battle of the Bands - GBOB, the biggest music competition for bands playing their original songs live returns after a 3-year hiatus with the National Finals held in Penang for the very first time!
Held in collaboration with FEYST: Independent Youth Festival and promoted/organised by brand activation company, GoInternationalGroup.com, Malaysian bands are invited to enter by downloading the entry form from the website: www.feyst.com and emailing it to malaysia@gbob.com.

"Last weekend, we kicked off the search for one band to represent Malaysia at the Gbob World Finals in Chiangmai, Thailand next 8th February 2014," says event promoter, Jasmine Low. "This is a first for our company to support a band battle. We have showcased local musicians through our open mic gigs and festival platform, FEYST, but never a battle. So why the change in perception, you may ask?

We were introduced by Siva Chandran of BITE MY MUSIC (VIMA) to consider working with Founder/CEO Tore Lande of Gbob Worldwide. After several months of discussions, we have found that the global exposure offered by Gbob is unmatched. Also, we have had a good relationship with Gbob since its inception in Kuala Lumpur since 2009.
We support the values of Gbob because it focuses on two things; play your music live, play your own original songs!", Jasmine added.

Gbob Malaysia 2013/2014 is crowd-funded, and welcomes brand sponsors to come forth for a larger scaled 2014/2015 season.

Two qualifier events will take place on 4th & 5th January 2014 in George Town, Penang at local community spaces - Soundmaker Studio and Chinahouse. There will no other heats in any other states just for this year due to time constraints.

"We have been organising music gigs since 2002 and look forward to building Gbob Malaysia into a community event that showcases quality Malaysian bands. We respect it because bands are selected based on the quality of their songs and performance. It's definitely not a popularity contest," said the promoter.

Join us and support as we grow this from the grassroots.

Ends.
