Hello Penang!

Are you ready for the next season of Doppelganger 2010 gigs? Thanks to all of you who have texted Jaz about performing at a Doppelganger gig. We appreciate your patience. So where shall we gig first?

How about a Doppelganger Tour in the heart of Penang Heritage City?!

We invite daring open mickers to make their way up to Penang for an acoustic open mic in Bangkok Lane, Penang. It will be held in a heritage house, with no sound system, just the acoustics of the room. And it's a small room. Only fits 40pax. Bring your guitars and vocas and let's rock Penang.

Doppelganger Indie Picks: Y2K (MALAYSIA) meets Superman is Dead (INDONESIA)

Here we go again with Doppelganger Indie Picks. Each time, we select one local and one foreign artiste to share with you. This edition, we are shaking with excitement as we reintroduce two punk acts, both of whom have been around for quite some time. Whilst our Balinese counterpart, Superman is Dead enjoys a fan base of over 5million on Facebook, the other closer to home (we're speaking of Ampang in Kuala Lumpur) has an insignificant amount of but in our opinion, have the promise of being a really really really (as my Italian friend Valentina says) a smashing big band! So the long and short is, the Malaysian band Y2K has been established since the early 2000s and is about to release it's second album. How many albums did Sex Pistols release? Perhaps this article (Sex Pistols' Steve Jones interview: 'We should do a covers album') could be an inspiration to them to reinvent, repackage and just bloody get their band out there more and more and more :P Can...

Gig: 20 June 2010 Doppelganger @ Fete de la Musique, Palette Palette

Fete de la Musique 2010 has invited Doppelganger Open Mic to help arrange a slot again. The Fête de la Musique is above all a free popular festival, open to any musician who wants to perform. The musicians perform for free, and all the concerts are free for the public. It happens all across the world and it will be celebrated in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday 20th June from 5 pm till late. Musicians and music lovers will enjoy one open stage at Palate Palette (21 Jalan Mesui, 50200 KL). Hey guys! Sorry for earlier typo. It's 20th June yea...So Doppelganger Open Mic & Gigs will head down town to Palette Palette for this.
