A Ruthless Cleansing
In 2009, a band called The Council of One played their first actual gig at Rock Genesis, turning down an opportunity to play at Monash Uni's Street Carnival. Throughout the year the band played intermittent shows while hashing out a punishing, passionate, and wholly melodic sound and live performance. Combining the best of metal and hard rock, the sky seemed the limit after a tremendous show at Malaysian Today's SyokShock night. With the departure of two founding members, Long and James, The Council of One regrouped to find they were no longer the same band. Recruiting Rajif,ex-Traumagash, and also James Robind, ex-Reign of Fire, The Council of One was reborn as A Ruthless Cleansing, a behemoth of monstrous riffs and anthemic choruses, ready to take on their next audience. Blending the very best of old school and new school metal, A Ruthless Cleansing draws inspiration from artists as diverse as Suicide Silence to Dream Theatre, from Pantera to Underoath while creating a wholly unique sound completely their own. With a concept album called 'Morning Son' in the works, A Ruthless Cleansing's coming year can be summed up with a lyric from their song 'Anarchist Manifesto'- "Our time is now." A Ruthless Cleansing is also one of the nominees for 'Best College Act' in the 2010 VIMA Awards.

A nice surprise visit by Az Samad (pictured above) who has returned from California, USA for a visit! Az Samad is a full-time composer-performer who focuses on writing original acoustic guitar music. Coming from a classical guitar background laid the foundation for his unique sound that is a blend of jazz, latin, pop and new age. After completing his first degree in music, he studied with Eric Roche, an influential acoustic fingerstyle guitarist from the UK. Attending two of Eric's Residential Guitar Workshops in 2003 and 2004 proved valuable as it led Az into new directions in his music. Being nominated for the first Cameronian Arts Award for best solo performance encouraged him to further explore his solo guitar excursions. Visit www.azsamad.com for more. Seen on his twitter feed:

Twitter / Az Samad: was seen yesterday night playing an open mic set at Doppelganger @ Artista,Tropicana City Mall. Uber cool place, fun music & awesome crowd. <

Caustic Band consist of the front man Danny(vocals/guitars/violin), John-Aidan(Guitar), Matt (guitars/bass) and Levi (drums/bass/guitars), whom all have different musical influences and background and one day decided to play some music together! Front man Danny has been exploring the local music scene and gigged as a solo performer and sessionist for a few bands, while the rest of the members serve and the wield their musical skills in church. As Caustic band is new, they are just starting to write some of their own materials and will be doing covers for now till they have finished writing. Do watch out for Caustic Band's new material debuts! Akan Datang! We do not have a myspace yet but do add the band members on facebook for updates!! ;p (Danny New, John-Aidan Low, Matthew Bryan Chong, Levi Asher).

Once Upon A Time There Was A Sausage Named Bob is a newly formed five piece band compromising of four guys and one girl from IACT. The band was formed out of the love for music and randomness. Strange enough, during their first jam session together, they came up with 2 original songs right away. What sparked it was not just the randomness but also that they had chemistry and that is a vital thing to have in any band. With the passion to create music, the love for randomness and just wanting to have fun in mind, the band hope that it’ll stay that way from the start till the end. Once upon a time there was a sausage named Bob is also the 2nd runner up for the recent Touch N Go Battle Of The Bands 2009. They are Lee wei sheong, Esther Rimah Richard, Lee Wei Chen, Lam Jian Chuan & Lee tyn wy.
